Apple is working on the development of a new device for the home based on a smart display, which will be powered by a new operating system called homeOS and with the functions of the Apple Intelligence ecosystem, and whose launch is scheduled for 2025, according to Gurman.

The American technology company aims to introduce its Artificial Intelligence (AI) functions applied to the home, for which it is working on new products in the form of smart screens similar to devices such as Amazon’s Echo Show or Google’s Nest Hub, as it was already known last year.

In this sense, Apple is developing a smart display that it plans to launch next year 2025 and that will integrate a new operating system that the technology company has called homeOS, as announced by Bloomberg analyst and journalist Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter.

As he has advanced, this home device in the form of a screen, is codenamed J490 and can be used to carry out FaceTime calls, control other connected devices in the home such as appliances, as well as run applications such as calendar, notes or home, to visualize information quickly and easily.

To carry out these actions, the device will integrate a new operating system called homeOS, which will be based on Apple TV’s tvOS system. It will also be equipped with Apple Intelligence tools to integrate AI into users’ homes.

As for the design of this device, Gurman has pointed out that, among the prototypes that Apple has been testing, there are screen formats that are attached to the walls by means of a magnetic support, or that rest directly on a table.

With all this, Apple plans to launch this new smart display during the next year 2025, and it will have a price that can reach 1,000 dollars (around 894.46 euros at the exchange rate), as the analyst has pointed out.

More elaborate smart display

In addition to this smart display, Apple is also developing another, more elaborate device for the home, which according to Gurman, is made up of a robotic limb and a large smart display, similar to that of an iPad.

Specifically, it is a desktop device that the company refers to as J595 and that would be the high-end complement to the smart display mentioned above. It will also integrate the homeOS operating system, in addition to the AI functions of Apple Intelligence.

However, it is unknown when Apple plans to launch this robotic device with AI for the home, as well as what functions it will be able to carry out.
