AIS Unveils Southeast Asia’s First 5G-Powered AI CCTV Camera

Thailand’s largest mobile phone operator, Advanced Info Service (AIS), has introduced AiCAM, a smart CCTV camera that combines 5G connectivity with artificial intelligence to enhance home and community security. The launch marks the first deployment of this type of surveillance technology in Southeast Asia.

Developed in partnership with Chinese IoT firm, JFTECH, AiCAM uses AI models trained on local Thai data to recognize behaviors, detect objects, and respond to events in real time. The camera connects via AIS’s 5G network, enabling low-latency, high-reliability video monitoring.

AIS designed the camera’s features to reflect common Thai household needs, with applications for indoor and outdoor security, elderly monitoring, child supervision, and pet tracking. According to AIS, the system can identify individuals, vehicles, or pets; detect smoke or fire; and recognize patterns such as inactivity or unusual behavior. Alerts are sent automatically, and key events are compiled into short video clips.

The AI system includes five key modules:

  • Home Care: For general monitoring and abnormal behavior detection
  • Outdoor Care: For surveillance of vehicle activity and movement
  • Elderly Care: For fall detection and daily habit tracking
  • Child Care: For presence detection and activity analysis
  • Pet Care: For monitoring animal movement and behavior

AIS offers three AiCAM models, with pricing starting at THB 990. Cloud storage is available through an add-on package at THB 99 per month, covering three days of recorded events. Optional upgrades extend the storage to seven or thirty days.

Features for indoor, outdoor, and elderly monitoring are currently available. Modules for child and pet monitoring will be released in the coming weeks.

Saran Phloprakarn, Head of AIS’s Mobile Product Division, said, “Today, digital technology plays an important role in enhancing people’s quality of life, making it more convenient and safer—especially in the ‘smart home’ segment, which helps connect and manage daily life at home intelligently. As a leader in telecommunications and digital service provision, AIS has continuously developed new innovations to support the digital lifestyle of Thais, covering all aspects of life. The launch of AiCAM is another significant step in delivering security and smart living solutions, enabling Thais to access cutting-edge technology ahead of others.”
